This is an administrative support position located within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Department of the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. The position serves as the principal program support assistant and advisor at the departmental level, ensuring the difference and varied administrative support functions are handled in a manner to enhance the efficiency of the department.
Duties
Duties include but not limited to:
Keeps the department supervisor's calendar and scheduling of appointments and meetings.
Provides support for a wide range of rehabilitation programs.
Responsible for providing and integrating information necessary for the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services to veterans.
Gathers statistics to formulate cost and productivity reports, reviewing and estimating budget projections, gathering and preparing necessary statistics for the Information Management and Data Validation Committee Review, maintains staffing lists and organizational charts and collects and formulates input for the Annual report to the Clinical Executive Board.
Provide assistance in monitoring and trending Performance Improvement indicators within the department.
Provides advisement on the practical and technical aspect of office administration, including personnel administration, budgeting, purchasing, supply management, files management, and data processing.
Collects date for the departmental budget, reviews submissions for proper format and compliance with agency budget requirements and consolidates into an annual budget.
Utilizes control to monitor the expenses during the fiscal year for each section/program and recommends budget adjustments.
Restructures budget allocations dealing with changing situations such as varying costs for supplies, services and changes in the availability of funds.
Purchases supplies using a Government Purchase Card and processes and tracks purchase documents.
Interacts to develop and maintain proper stock of supplies necessary for the day-to-day operation for efficient clinical function.
Manages the office filing system and maintains competency and training folders for the department.
Responsible for coordinating and preparing document regarding request for travel and/or tuition support for submission to the Learning Management System office.
Coordinates the travel arrangements for the department and submits travel vouchers and reports at the conclusion of the travel.
Serves as the primary timekeeper for the department.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/08/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to providing practical and technical aspects of office administration, to include budgeting, purchasing, inventory management, personnel administration, data processing, and general office management.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary and requires some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items.
