The position is located in the Department of State, Bureau of Medical Services (MED), within the Managing Directorate of Operational Medicine (OM), in the Office of Strategic Medical Preparedness (SMP). The mission of the Bureau of Medical Services (MED) is to promote and safeguard the health and well- being of America's diplomatic community and to facilitate the diplomatic efforts of the Department of State.
Duties
Provides direct medical contingency planning within an Operations Center, at a temporary forward safe haven, or on site at an Embassy.
Addresses situations that are constantly in flux with issues arising that are both within
and/or outside of the incumbents’ control.
Provides subject matter expertise on emergency management principles to assist with the planning, coordinating and execution of direct support.
Responsible for quickly evaluating the changing environment, anticipating cascading effects on medical support, and quickly coordinating across the multiple governmental agencies to modify existing medical support plans.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-13: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience advising, coordinating and providing technical assistance and leadership for medical emergency management functions.
Experience coordinating and developing medical plans with interagency organizations to support crisis events.
Experience briefing and providing written reports to senior leaders.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
