The positions are in the FTA Office of Environmental Policy and Programs (TPE-30) and will serve as the Division Chief for one of three Divisions. You will direct and supervise environmental professionals to develop and deliver environmental regulations, policies, and programs to integrate environmental decisionmaking in transit planning and projects, and to minimize the environmental impacts. You will also supervise the provision of technical assistance and training.

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.To qualify for the Grade 15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equal or equivalent to the GS-14, it must include: Experience applying and understanding the Federal environmental process, including, but not limited to, the National Environmental Policy Act process, the Section 106 National Historic Preservation Act process, and Section 4(f) findings, as well as relevant regulations, executive orders and case law, as those authorities specifically relate to Federal transportation funding proposals. Experience analyzing environmental compliance needs from the standpoint of the Federal transportation environmental process and formulating appropriate responses to those needs, whether on a case-by-case basis or programmatically. Experience in leading and managing a multidisciplinary team in developing, implementing, and administering an environmental compliance system for transportation projects and related undertakings, including legislation development, rulemakings, policy-makings, and guidance documents.
