You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (OA) in the CLASSIFICATION/STAFFING ADVISORY BRANCHof MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will receive, track and follow up on a variety of pay issues and non-pay related issues. You will receive, track and submit RPAs for crediting military members with creditable military service and/or military buy backs. You will coordinate pre-employment physicals and pre-employment drug tests for serviced population. You will provide in-processing services regularly for serviced population as well as courtesy processing for employees of other Agencies aboard the base. You will screen calls and visitors and provide necessary information. You will perform an array of clerical and administrative duties in support of the Director and Staff. You will treat a variety of staffing and classification problems, questions, and/or situations.

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-06) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Reviewing requirements and processing personnel actions in accordance with regulations; facilitating new employee onboarding/hiring process; entering and retrieving data utilizing human resources information systems; and making minor edits to position descriptions using qualification standards and ranking procedures for a wide variety of clerical and technical positions for internal and external recruitment actions; and plan, coordinate and advise on work efforts, issues, and influencing to meet mutual goals.
