Duties
Works under the general direction of the Director of IMCOM Public Affairs and G9 Branch Chief, who provide general guidance and establish overall program objectives and priorities.
Incumbent serves as a Public Affairs Specialist in the U.S. Army Installation Management Command with an emphasis on Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) Activities. This individual is the lead staffing agent for Family and MWR observance communications planning including but not limited to: Gold Star observances; Domestic Violence Awareness Month; Military Family Appreciation Month; Month of the Military Child and National Military Appreciation Month; and Military Spouse Appreciation Day. Works closely with Program Managers and Directors to plan and execute communications support to commemorate events that inform, educate and raise awareness of quality-of-life initiatives executed by IMCOM G9. Responsible for developing and distributing a full range of communications products. Plans and executes communications strategies that inform and educate the general public and military audiences about Family and MWR programs and their value to both Army and Nation. Coordinate the dissemination of information supporting the command's communication objectives.
Initiates and maintains effective liaison with managerial, technical and other IMCOM personnel to provide open lines of communication and enhance the effectiveness of the IMCOM public affairs program.
Writes, reviews, and disseminates material in the format appropriate for the medium in which it is to appear, the audience for which it is designed, and the information objectives it is expected to achieve.
Researches, prepares, edits, and distributes information materials such as speeches, news releases, fact sheets, advisories, public affairs guidance, and feature and news stories and social media products on G9 activities to reach a wide audience through traditional and social media, public forums, official websites and other channels of communications. Contributes to, edits, and creates original content in the form of written, multimedia and photographic products in support of the command's official website and social media initiatives.
Captures and distributes photographic and video products in support of command information and strategic communications goals. When necessary, coordinates with outside activities for video and/or print production.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE CLEARLY VERIFIABLE IN YOUR RESUME. GOVERNMENT POSITIONS MUST INCLUDE PAY PLAN, SERIES, GRADE, TO AND FROM DATES, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCY/DEPARTMENT. Must include at least one year of experience performing duties at a level which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform successfully in the position. Possess progressive experience in broadcast journalism, marketing, public relations, or communications management which includes at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in skill and complexity to the next lower grade as follows:
-Demonstrated knowledge of the practice and techniques in planning, developing, and writing news stories, press releases, feature articles, or other public communications concerning a wide variety of topics.
- Possess experience in identifying the characteristics of target audiences and determining the most effective strategic communication techniques. - Experience with speaking regularly in public, delivering radio/TV news, or consistently interfacing with news media representatives.
- Skill in interviewing a variety of people and gathering information from many different sources.
- Skill in evaluating the news value of communication potential of visual material, to include utilization of social media or other web-based or multimedia products.
OR
Possess a combination of experience (listed above) and/or education in public relations, journalism, corporate communications or related field that equips the candidate with the knowledge to perform the duties of the position.
