About the Position: Serves as the Combat Development Specialist. This position is located in SOTF CD SECTION FORT Liberty, NC

Duties

Serves as the Combat Development Specialist assigned to a United States Special Operations Command (USASOC) Component Subordinate Command/Unit (CSC/CSU). Maintains expertise in the area(s), to include: ground mobility; soldier systems; breaching; command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance; visual augmentation systems; and/or sensitive activities. Coordinates the assessment of requirements, documentation of validated capabilities, operational performance criteria, and capability needs required to execute war fighter missions. Manages commodity area representatives within CDD to create material capabilities documents in support of requirements and the rapid acquisition process. Serves as chairperson of an Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to guide the requirements developments process. Manages the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development (JCIDS) Process to identify and develop material and non-material solutions for validated RD operational requirements. Plans and implements Integrated Logistics Support for RD projects as part of assigned material acquisition programs/projects. Advises the command on DOD, USSOCOM, USASOC, and Joint Command required capabilities issues.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee must be able to deploy OCONUS with USSOCOM or with other government agencies on short notice for operations and training exercises for extended periods of time, to include hostile fire zones.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a driver's license.
  • IAW AR 600-50, incumbent is required to file OGE Form 450 (Confidential Financial Disclosure Statement) annually.
  • Duties require travel 25-40% of the time.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with Sensitive Compartmented Info security clearance.
  • This position requires a pre-employment drug test and random drug tests thereafter.
  • Incumbent is subject to a psychological screening.
  • One year probationary period may be required, unless previously completed.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision MakingLeadershipPlanning and EvaluatingProgram ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-12.
