This position is located in the Office of Cyber, Infrastructure, Risk, and Resilience Policy (CIRR), part of the Dept of Homeland Security's Office of Strategy, Policy and Plans. As a Deputy Director you will support the development and coordination of department-wide policy positions in these and related areas of CIRR responsibility in coordination with appropriate interagency and DHS stakeholders. Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Duties

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (Infosec), GS-2210-14, your typical work assignments may include: Developing, implementing, and evaluating national-level cyber, cybersecurity, emerging technology (including artificial intelligence), and related risk and resilience policy; analyzing potential impacts and providing concise recommendations to leadership on complex cyber and/or emerging technology, and/or related risk or resilience policy issues. Representing departmental policy positions in interagency and other working groups with other departments; foreign, state and local governments; the private sector; and academia and convening subject matter experts to research, review, and report on sufficiency, implications of, and recommendations for cyber, cybersecurity, emerging technology, and/or related risk or resilience policy. Analyzing significant policy issues affecting DHS, the private sector, international community, and state, local and tribal governments. Communicating complex concepts, findings, and limitations into concise, plain language. Integrating cyber, cybersecurity, emerging technology, and/or related risk or resilience policy to support organizational requirements; reviewing and analyzing new and proposed legislation, regulations, strategies, and national policy initiatives; and developing policy solutions to identified security and other impacts on existing agency policies, strategies, programs and operations. Qualifications

Individual Occupational requirements: In addition to specialized experience, you must demonstrate possession of the following competencies detailed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: 1) Developing, implementing, and evaluating national-level cyber, cybersecurity, emerging technology, and/or related risk or resilience policy; 2) Representing organizational policy positions in interagency and other working groups, 3) Analyzing significant policy issues affecting the organization and communicating complex concepts, findings, and limitations into concise, plain language, and 4) Integrating cyber, cybersecurity, emerging technology, and/or cyber-related risk or resilience policy to support agency requirements and developing policy solutions to identified security and other impacts on existing organizational policies, strategies, programs and operations. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement. Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary.
