The Aeronautics Projects Office at the Ames Research Center is seeking interested applicants for a Program Specialist position. The Aeronautics Projects Office supports the development and execution of aeronautics project activities at NASA Ames Research Center and provides management support for those projects. This work includes systems engineering, flight partnerships, risk management, administrative support, flight test support, and innovation initiatives for the Aeronautics Directorate.
Duties
Apply critical inquiry and problem solving to complete assessments (including risks), make recommendations, or resolve issues involving flight operations.
Provide insight to the resolution of issues on all aspects of commercial aerospace flight development/operation, including system performance, configuration, component definition, operational capabilities, reliability, safety, etc.
Generate and apply practical concepts, processes, and systems related to flight operations.
Integrate unique aerospace flight systems, customer products, and project and/or program elements to satisfy aircraft operation requirements.
Consult and provide subject matter expertise in relevant projects including flight testing, aviation safety for UAS, Federal Aviation Administration regulations and constraints, and NASA Airworthiness and Flight Safety Review Board processes.
Provides management planning support to enable flight test partnerships, mission planning and execution, and test infrastructure design, development and implementation.
Advise and consult on external partnerships (both government and industry), that are synergistic with Agency projects and programs and implements those that are relevant using the Agency/Ames partnerships and legal framework.
Conceive, plan, and conduct pioneering analyses and evaluations of outstanding scope, difficulty, and complexity in unexplored program areas of critical importance to the Agency. Defends project's position to top Center/Agency leadership.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:
managing and overseeing project planning, development, and implementation for flight related activities;
leading project activities with external stakeholders through engagement with operational readiness reviews, critical design reviews, or project meetings; and
managing air-traffic projects including unmanned aircraft operations and monitoring emerging business concepts for engineering projects involving Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) or autonomous vehicles.
