You will serve as a Transportation Assistant (Quality Assurance Inspector/Counselor) in the Navy Household Goods/Personal Property Shipping Office (HHG/PPSO) of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF.

Duties

You will work independently within the framework of established practices and prescribed procedures. You will communicate with members/employees, their dependents or agents to elicit their shipment needs and desired services. You will counsel property owners/customers regarding inbound and outbound shipments, non-temporary and temporary storage, and procedures for processing loss and damage claims. You will interpret applicable rules, laws, and regulations to determine customer entitlements. You will plan, manage, and review your own workload. You will present both oral and written comprehensive briefings.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You must be willing to obtain and maintain a Government vehicle operator permit.
  • You must be willing to drive during inclement weather and this could include distances up to 200 miles per day.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must obtain and maintain eligibility for assignment or retention to a sensitive national security position as a condition of employment, regardless of the requirement to access classified information.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector using knowledge of transportation principles and methodology as they relate to management of personal property and household goods, as well as privately owned vehicles, boats, and mobile homes while working within the framework of established practices and prescribed procedures to perform or assist higher grade personnel. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Calculating shipping costs, and reconciliation of shipment errors; 2) Counseling property owners/customers regarding inbound and outbound shipments, non-temporary and temporary storage, and procedures for processing loss and damage claims; 3) Responding to customer and Transportation Service Providers requests for information/assistance; 4) Utilizing computer systems to identify needs and problems related to the movement of household goods; 5) Communicating with customers to elicit their shipment needs and desired services; 6) Reviewing orders and conducting inspections.
