Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-09 level, you must have one of the following:
1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level defined as Researching government information management rules and regulations to assist in the disclosure of information in response to official requests; applying records management guidance pertaining to retention, disclosure and destruction of agency records.
master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; the education must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
equivalent combination of education and experience
To qualify for the GS-11 level, you must have one of the following:
1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level defined as Researching government information management rules and regulations to make recommendations regarding disclosure of information in response to official requests; applying records management guidance pertaining to retention, disclosure and destruction of agency records.
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related; the education must provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position
equivalent combination of education and experience
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and the Privacy Act.
Skill in applying government information management laws, regulations, principles and policies to assignments involving the release of information to the public.
Skill in written communication.
Skill in oral communication.
Skill in information management through the use of information technology.
Knowledge of Federal and Agency records management systems, regulations, principles and policies.
Skill in conducting analyses of legislation and regulations to determine impact on program operations.
Ability to establish procedures to ensure timely notification of privacy breaches.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
