This position is located in the Emergency Medicine Department of the Whiteriver Indian Hospital. The purpose of the position is to assist providers providing a variety of support duties associated with patient care, treatment and other duties and responsibilities related to patients diagnosed with substance use disorders.
Duties
Performs hospital-based, community, and home-based care of patients with substance use disorders, under administrative supervision.
conducts initial brief assessments and brief interventions using standardized tools, introduces patients to appropriate programs and services, facilitates appointments at outpatient clinics, facilitates transportation to services, serves as a resource and coach for their clients, and advocates for culture change.
Assists with patient navigation services needed for patients in all areas of the hospital, including the inpatient unit, as well as follow-up with patients being discharged from another facility as well as after release from jail, incarceration, or a substance use rehabilitation program.
Facilitates appointments at outpatient clinics, facilitates transportation to services, serves as a resource and coach for their clients, and advocates for culture change.
Assists with access to other services, such as mental health services, primary care, social services, and outpatient and residential treatment programs.
Assists with patient navigation services needed for patients in all areas of the hospital, including the inpatient unit, as well as follow-up with patients being discharged from another facility as well as after release from jail, incarceration, or a substance userehabilitation program.
Record Keeping:
Maintains all patient information, which includes lab values, demographic data, and appointment time for clinic activities and home visits; maintains database using automated systems to record patient encounters and reason for encounter.
Documents patient services provided via electronic health record.
Attends meetings with supervisor and participates in hospital and community-based meetings relevant to work.
Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures Ensures that record keeping procedures are in place and followed by appropriate employees
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Performs clerical duties such as answering the telephone, transferring telephone calls, distributing all incoming mail and other material, preparing outgoing mail, and drafting original letters upon request; Competence and use of word processing programs such as Microsoft Office and spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel; Interpersonal problem-solving skills as obtained through customer service or community engagement positions; Experience with outreach to a community of patients suffering from substance use disorders; Obtaining and recording patients' medical history, vitals; preparing treatment rooms; interviewing patients to obtain medical information; Performs hospital-based, community, and home-based care of patients with substance use disorders. Assists with access to other services, such as mental health services, primary care, social services, and outpatient and residential treatment programs. Documents patient services provided via electronic health record.

Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
