About the Position: Performs duties as subject matter expert for DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) for the Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC) Information Management Division (IMD).

Duties
Participate in network and system design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies.
Edit, review and standardize the technical writing documents that describe the configuration and design on WAMC’s applications, servers as well as the hospital’s network infrastructure.
Monitor changes to the hospital network architecture and IT resources for continuous evaluation of ISS vulnerabilities and the need for corrective actions and / or process changes.
Prepare certification and accreditation documentation when required.
Maintain access control records and ensures they are reviewed at least weekly.
Maintain close liaison with system administrators to promote security.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- May be required to work irregular hours which may include overtime, weekends, holidays and on call.
- DOD Directive 8570.1 requires that all IT employees have a minimum of one of the following IAT level II certification:
-GSEC
-SCNP
-SSCP
-Security+

Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist:
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience developing, implementing, maintaining, and oversee enforcement of policies, procedures and associated plans for system security administration and user system access based on industry standard best practices.
Applicants must possess Information Technology (IT) related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies as defined:
1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. (Position Example: Closely monitors network devices and interconnected equipment to verify operational capability);
2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations. (Example: Provides technical oversight to customers for telecommunications networks and other systems);
3) Oral Communication - Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information. (Example: Advises and counsels customers on network services); and
4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations. (Example: Provide knowledgeable technical advice in resolving network outages). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-09.
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Computer Science, Information Science or Technology Management.
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
