You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST (HAZMAT) in the NAVY SUPPLY CORPS SCHOOL at Newport, Rhode Island.

Duties

You will develop course lesson plans and other training materials for HAZMAT course. You will research and order course materials annually to ensure course is relevant, professional and the most up-to-date current regulations. You will research, review and analyze pertinent date in the hazmat environment to be able to instruct the complex knowledge and techniques used in the field. You will follow course outline, instructor manuscripts and other materials.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing reports of findings from data analysis on the transportation of hazardous materials educational program; 2) Preparing classroom lesson plans providing approved methods of transportation for hazardous materials; 3) Review hazmat related materials and updated information into new or revised college training material; and 4) Utilizing regulations and policies for preparing, documenting, and shipping hazardous materials and dangerous goods. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR

OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
