Duties

Provide current range protocol guidance to customers regarding safety and utilization of ranges. Inspect training facilities ensuring the safe conduct of training in accordance with governing regulations, policies, and procedures. Conduct quality control operations for scheduling, range operations, phase III brief, range inspections, range maintenance, and fire desk operations. Survey range and training areas to ensure activities are in compliance with regulations. Maintain placement of warning signs, roadblocks, and barriers preventing access to permanent and temporary impact and designated hazard areas.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations you are required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires you to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This position may require overtime work.
  • The duties of this position require you to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires you to work both inside and outside with possibility exposure to inclement weather, hazardous and toxic substances, and adverse environmental conditions.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • The duties of this position require you to possess or obtain and maintain a Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s Identification Card within 30 days of appointment into the position.
  • The duties of this position require you to possess or obtain and maintain an equipment operator’s qualification record within 30 days of appointment into the position.
  • This position requires you to complete the Accident Avoidance training course within 30 days of appointment into the position and attend annual refresher course.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as any major field of study. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementAttention to DetailTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
