The primary purpose of this position is to provide system engineering and weapon system support to AFGSC in the areas of nuclear systems security.
Duties
Performs a broad range of technical security systems and programs development, procurement, installation and sustainment; conducts planning, modeling and. simulation assignments related to security of AFGSC nuclear assets entailing unique problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches, and/or new technologies.
Determines technical requireIµents and develops research and development needs related to nuclear security systems and facilities. Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance on an entire project and/or major phases for broad and varied operations.
Leads, directs, and manages the nuclear deviation program.
Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to nuclear security program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts. Represents AFGSC on committees and technical working groups staying current on nuclear security policy and technical developments.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying extensive knowledge of a wide range of nuclear security specialties to include physical, personal, and operational security to identify and resolve conflicting and complex issues; experience applying in depth knowledge of security systems and programs development, procurement, installation and sustainment.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of basic theories and principles of nuclear weapons security systems design, specifications development techniques; and an understanding of AF acquisition and nuclear security requirements as well as organizational functions involved in SF support.
Knowledge of DoD and Air Force nuclear security instructions. More specifically, this position requires expert knowledge of ICBM, bomber and WSA security systems.
Skill to negotiate and/or defend findings and program support concepts.
Ability to lead study teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints.
Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques and design, build, and use models and simulation techniques.
Mastery of oral and writing skills to present clear and concise information on a host of complex issues, conduct high level, sensitive liaison and promote good public relations; formulate clear informational briefings to the Commander and staff, and write policy memoranda and reports. Will be required to staff/coordinate packages with senior level officials within Command, other Commands and other governmental agencies.
Bachelor's degree highly desired.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
