The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a security specialist in the Advanced Programs Division, in the highly complex area of SAP/SAR/SCI for Air Forces Strategic and to build, develop, implement, and sustain a comprehensive security management program.
Duties
Duty 1: Responsible for developing, implementing, and executing the vision, mission, and goals of the Division in support of the overall JGSOC, AFSTRAT and Operations Directorate vision, mission, and goals.
Duty 2: Implements and Administers the Information Security Program for the Advanced Programs Division, JGSOC, AFSTRAT.
Duty 3: Implements And Administers The Personnel Security Program For The Advanced Programs Division JGSOC, AFSTRAT.
Duty 4: Implements and Administers the Physical Security Program for the Advanced Programs Division, JGSOC, AFSTRAT.
Duty 5: Implements Security Education and Training Programs for the Advanced Programs Division HQ AFGSC/A5Z.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
- Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD
- This is a Key Position; shall not be vacated during a national emergency. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying knowledge of a wide range of security disciplines, concepts, principles, practices, and requirements applicable to information security, industrial security, physical security and personnel security in order to review independently, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems. Knowledge of operational characteristics across the multiple-disciplinary security constructs, to identifying and protect information, personnel, property, facilities, or material against various threats risks to classified National Security information and apply appropriate levels of protection as well as provide evaluation, direction, and guidance to subordinate organization security professionals across the command.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Broad knowledge of security concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices.
2. Knowledge of security program interrelationships to coordinate the objectives and plans of two or more specialized programs to support and promote information sharing and strategies.
3. Knowledge of security procedures to handle, protect and maintain control of TS/SCI/SAP classified material and media and skill to interpret a variety of security program laws, directives, regulations, and guidance to assist staff in establishing and operating internal security programs.
4. Skill in the use of analytical principles, practices, and techniques to review, evaluate, and apply several alternatives according to the security requirements for highly specific situations, availability of materials, relationships with other protective programs, and cost/benefit considerations.
5. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately to a large range of audiences.
6. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers, customers, and other agencies contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
Other Significant Facts:
The employee must possess accurate knowledge and appreciation for sensitive security programs and procedures, and shall be subject to a periodic counter-intelligence scope polygraph examination and submit to additional background checks as a condition of employment and/or continued access to the SAP.
Knowledge of SAP computer systems networking and programs such as Outlook, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required for performance of duties.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
