Duties

Duty 1: Directs research, testing, modeling and simulation efforts across agencies to develop an integrated strategic vision for future Air Force nuclear security improvement efforts. Duty 2: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Duty 3: Integrates and coordinates AFGSC nuclear security improvement efforts across services and multiple agencies. Duty 4: Represent HQ AFGSC with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

  • This position has been designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.

  • Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying knowledge of the body of laws, policies, regulations, standards, procedures, methods, and techniques applicable to a wide range of security requirements sufficient to plan, direct, coordinate, develop and evaluate diverse security programs. Knowledge of AF weapon systems and platforms for delivering nuclear weapons. Knowledge of construction standards, methods, practices, techniques, materials, and equipment to determine compliance with force protection standards. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the body of laws, policies, regulations, standards, procedures, methods, and techniques applicable to a wide range of security requirements sufficient to plan, direct, coordinate, develop and evaluate diverse security programs. 2. Knowledge of AF weapon systems and platforms for delivering nuclear weapons. Knowledge of construction standards, methods, practices, techniques, materials, and equipment to determine compliance with force protection standards. 3. Knowledge of all areas of what forms the nuclear security "system" to include training, equipment, procedures, personnel, facilities, tactics and policies. 4. Knowledge in the broad areas of the Planning Programming Budgeting System (PPBS), financial planning, budget process and requirements. 5. Knowledge of facility access delay methods as well as explosive, mechanical and thermal breaching. 6. Ability to manage design, development and deployment of security improvements across multiple environments using DOD and Air Force Physical Security Programs and directives. 7. Ability to plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate individual and group work activity. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
