You will serve as a Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) in the Information Assurance Division of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will coordinate a variety of security issues with other commands, higher echelons, and external organizations to address cybersecurity requirements. You will evaluate the impact of new laws and guidance on current programs and systems and recommend changes to existing plans and policies to ensure compliance and responsiveness. You will write information assurance (IA) procedures for mitigating security vulnerabilities. You will modify IT plans and policies to respond to changes in the command's business or mission requirements and processes or change in legislation or regulatory requirements. You will develop project performance expectations and metrics to assess the effectiveness of project objectives.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area in System Security Management (Code 461) within 6 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Information System Security Management (Code 461), Systems Security level I access within 12 months of appointment.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing IT and control systems programs to assess overall compliance with cybersecurity plans, policies, and alignment with business and mission requirements; 2) Maintaining an organization's cybersecurity program that includes cybersecurity architecture, requirements, objectives, policies, cybersecurity personnel, and cybersecurity processes and procedures; 3) Providing assistance in drafting, modifying, and maintaining an organization's core cybersecurity policies; and 4) Tracking and performing cybersecurity related tasks associated with assessment and authorization activities for IT and control systems in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.
