Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-15 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level defined as planning, organizing and directing a multidisciplinary team that is primarily responsible for providing national expertise, evaluation, and guidance on the use of innovative technologies for environmental cleanup.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
Ability to provide leadership to a staff of technical and/or administrative personnel
Skill in oral communication
Skill in managing the development of policy changes in response to changes in levels of appropriate or other legislated changes
Knowledge of various Superfund policies, guidelines and regulations (i.e., Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA))
Knowledge of environmental response and remediation policies, procedures, and techniques
Knowledge of measurement and monitoring technologies relevant for contaminated site cleanup
Knowledge of innovative technologies for environmental remediation
Ability to use and evaluate cleanup data
Knowledge of contract laws and regulations
Knowledge of grants laws and regulations

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
