About the Position: The purpose of this position is to perform clerical or technical work supporting one or more military personnel programs, operations, or functions such as, soldier in-processing, out-processing, soldier actions, casualty, identification (ID) cards, contingency operations, records management, assignments, reassignments, and transition processing.
Duties
Establish, maintain and/or review forms and records pertaining to assigned work.
Enter data in automated systems to produce output including reports, orders and/or personnel data updates.
Retrieve data from information sources, both manual and electronic to answer questions, respond to correspondence and/or prepare reports.
Council service members on benefits and/or entitlements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employee may be required to work scheduled or unscheduled overtime.
- This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as: Verifying information in service records such as date of birth, length of service, awards and dependent statuses are complete and accurate; Making additions, revisions or deletions to records; Distribute, file for forward documents electronically or by hand to the appropriate personnel.

Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Advancement to positions up to GS-05 have no time in grade restrictions if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee had held within the preceding 52 weeks.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
