This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the PROFESSIONAL Work Category at the SENIOR Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA-ENTERPRISE ENGINEERING DIRECTORATE (OE21) .

Duties

Develop methods to monitor information about application performance and present that information through various presentation products such as dashboard developments. Monitor live user traffic as well as creating synthetic user transactions to mimic live users in controlled settings from numerous locations around the agency-controlled networks. Develops new and improved concepts, principles, and techniques that will advance the body of knowledge of computer science and adapt and apply advanced computer science methods and techniques to solve complex computer processing requirements. Serves as technical expert on the limitations of proven concepts and practices of broad and complex subject matter, field or functional area.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications. Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Failure to provide all of the required information as stated in this vacancy announcement may result in an ineligible rating or may affect the overall rating. For the Computer Engineer GG-0854 A. Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: Professional Registration Written Test Specified academic courses Related curriculum - With this criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience with packet analysis, and experience conducting and lead testing, writing, executing, and analyzing results of test plans developed to examine specific issues. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
