The Legal Administrative Specialist (National Security) is located in the Counterterrorism Section. The mission of the Counterterrorism Section is to design, implement, and support law enforcement efforts, legislative initiatives, policies and strategies relating to combating international and domestic terrorism.

Providing legal research support to attorneys, which is related to sensitive national security, security intelligence, counterterrorism and/or counterintelligence.
Drafting legal documents, responses, and staff summary sheets to assist the attorneys and management staff.
Preparing reports, exhibits, and legal memoranda from formal hearings and records.
Preparing a variety of regular or ad hoc reports, position papers, justification regarding the nature, status or need for litigation support.
Planning, directing, evaluating and implementing various litigation support activities for specific projects.
Conducting various tasks in support of discovery proceedings, scheduling depositions, monitoring court appearance dates and deadlines, and preparing reports relative to assigned cases or specialized areas of priority program reporting.
Verifying docketing of cases set for argument in court.
Applying, and adapting concepts, methods, and procedures to carry out project development and documentation activities.
Utilizing and supporting daily operation of legal case management databases.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.
- You must be a current Federal employee within the Department of Justice on a Competitive Service appointment.
- You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Legal Administrative Specialist (National Security), (GS-0901-12), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade.

Specialized Experience: You must demonstrate having at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as performing legal administrative functions (case management support, legal case research, analysis, etc.) to support attorneys within an organization.
