Duties

Review food service technical data and guidelines to evaluate quality assurance program effectiveness. Develop new evaluation procedures when required to achieve new and/or revised food service approaches, technologies, and methods for quality and productivity improvement Evaluate dining facility and field feeding operations to ensure an acceptable quality level is maintained. Review performance of contractor and/or military personnel and addresses any defects or failures in accordance with special conditions and technical specifications.

Requirements

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Background Investigation is required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent of this position will be required to work under an alternate work schedule.
  • Arrival and departure times will vary from day to day depending on the monthly random quality assurance evaluation schedule. Duty hours may begin as early as 0430 hours or end as late as 1930 hours.
  • The incumbent will also be required to work several weekends a month.
  • The incumbent of this position must be able to complete a formal certified training program in food sanitation. This will also require a closed book written examination to obtain the certification.
  • Renewal certification is required every four (4) years thereafter.
  • The incumbent will be required to stand and walk throughout a crowded and active dining facility for a maximum of four (4) hours at a time. The cooking and preparation areas of the dining facility will be excessively hot and humid.
  • The incumbent may experience greasy, wet and slippery floors throughout the day.
  • Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07) OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: a degree that includes understanding and complying with food safety standards. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityContracting/ProcurementWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements.
