You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the Quality Assurance Manager (Code 900Q), Production Department Analysis & Business Manager (Code 900A), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will investigate, research, respond to, track, and follow-up on all actions regarding NAVSEA Audit items, Naval Recreator Agenda Items, CO Agenda Items, as well as local audits, and work related problems.
You will participate in the development and follow-up of nuclear/refueling/defueling, debriefings, critiques, and incident reports.
You will be required to work in Radiologically Controlled areas onboard ships and in shops.
You will have the ability to maintain Radiological Workers Qualifications to work in these Radiation areas.
You will calculate and analyzes data from the Radiological Exposure Program.
You will conduct audits.
You will develop/revise audit plans, and assemble and train audit members.
You will conduct investigations.
You will provide production support for investigations identified by damage and waste, guarantee of industrial work and chronic quality problems requiring utilization of failure analysis team.
You will recommend quality improvement to shop management based on lessons learned from the audits, investigations analysis, and special studies results.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience in investigative and analysis methods and techniques to conduct effective audits/investigations of shipyard programs, processes and products and analyze results on a cumulative basis to identify quality trends.
Experience interpreting drawings, plans, specifications, job orders and other documents used by the Production Resources Department-Shops.
Experience in developing and implementing an effective, economical shipyard quality assurance program by using quality assurance concepts, principles and methodology .

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
