About the Position: These positions are located at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado. This position is restricted by law to persons entitled to Veterans' Preference; if there are no Veteran's preference eligible applicants available, non-preference applicants may be considered. Duties

Perform access control duties at access control points (ACP), parking, and traffic control during periods of congestion, limited access, construction, and/or VIP visits. Conduct both internal and external patrols of the hospital, satellite clinics, parking lots, and grounds. Stop, question, and detain persons when probable cause exists to do so. Conduct periodic parcel, package, container, and equipment checks. Refer and document information on individuals without adequate identification in standard reports and journals. Maintain an activity report to document shift activity. Monitor personnel access into restricted areas and intrusion detection system alarms using both manual and electronic methods.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.
  • This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
  • Requirements in Individual Reliability Program (IRP) may apply.
  • Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual Physical Agility Test (PAT).
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
