This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for technical analysis and integration of information to advise the leadership of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of all things that support Defense Cyber Operations and cybersecurity issues, policies and capabilities.
Duties
This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated October 15, 2021.
As a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN) at the GG-2210-15 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Synchronize efforts on internal and external services, Chairman level exercised and real-world operations.
Assess policy needs and collaborate with stakeholders to develop polices to best govern cyber operations with focus on defensive cyber operations.
Oversee analysis and integration of information to enable combatant commanders to maintain battlespace awareness and conduct successful operations to include Continuity of Operations planning.
Serve as Cyber Requirements Lead in support of the C4/Cyber, Functional Capabilities Board.
Prepare written statements, policy and correspondence for Chairman, Directors, and other senior representatives.
Represent, prepare and brief senior leaders on a variety of complex issues in individual and group settings.

- Position requires IAM Level III certification, and the incumbent must achieve IAM Level III certification within six months or less of entrance on duty. IA Duty Hours listed are 15-25.
- Being filled under DoD Modified Direct Hire Authority, Sec. 1109; PL, 116-92, dated 12/20/2019. It is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GG 15 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the 14 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
Mastery knowledge to identify gaps in the Defense Cyber Operations realm and make recommendations for closing the gaps across multiple IT and specific cyber programs as they relate to the security and stability of the global information and communications infrastructure;
Mastery in knowledge and skill to develop plans, provide guidance, revise and edit Joint Publications, Department of Defense Cyber Strategy, Cybersecurity policy and Defense Infrastructure to meet mission needs;
Skill in applying cyber risk management framework and process to include methods of assessing and mitigating risk;
Subject matter expert of the missions of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Department of Defense, and other Federal organizational components in order to understand cyber operations requirements;
Coordinating assignments and executing fiscal and manpower resources.
