About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Forces Command, I Corps, Senior Commander Aug, G-2 Security, JBLM, WA 98433

Duties

Serves as the command's entry point of contact on Personnel Security (PERSEC) matters, administering and establishing the personnel security program. Process periodic reinvestigations, security clearance applications, and all other administrative matters pertaining to PERSEC for the Command. Assists personnel with in-processing and out-processing tasks pertaining to PERSEC. Interprets Army regulations and other policy directives promulgated by Executive Orders, Department of Defense (DoD) directives and regulations. Serves as the account manager on the Defense Information System for Security (DISS); provides training, manages portal account access and account hierarchies for DISS. Supports Security Education Training Awareness (SETA) program, including the areas of physical, personnel, information, industrial and general security. Provides support or assigned to one or more of the functional security programs (e.g. Information Security (INFOSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC), and Foreign Disclosure.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 15% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within first two years of employment.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized experience:1) Providing direct support and technical assistance in a Personnel Security program such as reviewing requests for personnel security clearances for accuracy/completeness; 2) Executing and validating security clearances. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-09). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. Education

To substitute education for the required experience for the GG-11 grade level, applicant must have a closely related (CR) Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
