About the Position: This position is for an Employment Readiness Program Specialist GS-0101-09 with the Installation Management Command (IMCOM), Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Army Community Services Division located at Fort Carson, CO.

Duties

Develop a data base of job opportunities for family members through acquired knowledge of client skills and abilities. Manage employment readiness services and procedures that comply with regulatory requirements to meet installation/community needs. Use assessment tools and techniques to identify trends which focus on employment assistance to military spouses and family members. Conduct workshops and seminars on specific job skills such as resume writing, interviewing, salary negotiation, networking and achieving a professional image. Use assessment tools and techniques to identify trends which focus on employment assistance to military spouses and family members. Establish relationships with employment entities such as small business agencies, local chambers of commerce, economic development councils, state employment services, universities, etc. to promote the employment readiness program.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience 1;) Preparing reports, memorandums and presentations regarding community services and activities, 2;)Interviewing clients to determine employment goals and/or needs, and 3;)Assisting with the development of marketing materials/ programs to promote program opportunities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceInformation ManagementPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
