About the Position: As a Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Program Prevention Specialist (SAR WF), you are responsible for the planning, execution, coordination, and evaluation of prevention activities and training, education, and outreach efforts to prevent sexual harassment and sexual assault.

Duties

Analyze, assess, and clearly communicate program objectives, policies, operations, and resource data to ensure efficiency in the development and execution of the command's SHARP-related activities. Develop prevention programs for the installation that span across the socio-ecological model and serve to educate others on potential risk factors and protective factors in the area of sexual harassment and sexual assault. Conduct environmental scans and determine the manner or type of needs assessment that is most appropriate. Use professional knowledge to compile and analyze data that summarizes trends, prevalence, incidences and outcome within the community. Identify efficiencies in primary prevention development and delivery. Ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Army (DA), ACOMs or higher-level command and local policies and directives. Use professional knowledge to support the command's integrated prevention efforts to include planning, implementation and evaluation of outcomes against sexual harassment and sexual assault. Provide professional consultation services, advice and assistance to commanders and requesting staff on complex technical problems within the command pertaining to the SHARP Program. Represent the organization in collaboration efforts, at briefings, and at other meetings to present SHARP Prog Prev initiatives and implementation plans, plan design, impact findings, and use of research/eval, policy management, and process analyses

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Requires successful completion of OSD and/or Army-level prevention training course and completion of all requirements within 90 days of being in the position.
  • Position is Mission Essential.
  • Individuals will be screened against the following: the Army Family Advocacy Central Registry, Army Criminal Investigation Command/Crime Records Center, Previous Employer references, local police records.
  • Individuals will be screened against the following: Army Inspector General files, Army Substance Abuse Program and other records maintained on the installation that may be relevant.
  • Individuals found to have derogatory information in any check may not be eligible for this position and may be removed from further consideration.
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) business travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (Tier 3).
  • Position requires working overtime on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Incumbent is required to complete a pre-employment physical.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, etc. (NOTE: You must submit transcripts.) OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (NOTE: You must submit transcripts.) OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, execution/ coordination, and evaluation of prevention activities (policies, programs, and practices) in the area of sexual harassment/sexual assault; training and implementation of comprehensive prevention activities that address individual, interpersonal, organizational, and community factors that contribute to sexual harassment and sexual assault. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
