About the Position: Serves as a Social Media Manager and a Public Affairs Specialist for OTSG/MEDCOM. Conducts the public affairs program for the U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM), with responsibility for planning, developing and communicating the organization's programs, policies and activities to the stakeholders, beneficiaries and the public.

Duties

Develop and communicate the organization's programs, policies and activities to the stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the public. Analyze internal and external public opinion trends utilizing social media tools to determine Public Affairs program needs. Use a variety of methods and techniques in achieving communication goals via social media channels. Prepare, review, coordinate speeches/presentation informational material for general and targeted audiences. Monitor content of news media to keep leadership aware of current media interests that could impact command decisions. Use electronic media to convey the organization’s mission role in national defense and health care initiatives.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last two years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using electronic media to convey the organization's mission role in national defense and health care initiatives, analyze internal and external public opinion trends utilizing social media tools to determine Public Affairs program needs, plan, organize, direct strategic information programs in the development of strategic communication plans, respond to media queries that includes issues of a sensitive nature.
