About the Position: This position is located at the U.S. Army Engineer School, 1st Engineer Brigade, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.
Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is an hour's drive West of Fort Leonard Wood.
Duties
Prepare draft appointment orders detailing officers to conduct AR 15-6 investigations.
Coordinate with court members, board members, unit commanders, accused or respondent, Trial Defense Services, and witnesses regarding the uniform, time, date and locations of all trials and hearings.
Coordinate with units to provide escorts, bailiffs, and drivers.
Conduct legal research requiring use of the Manual for Courts-martial, regulations, pamphlets, organization, installation, major command and Army policies,
Account for all exhibits during the proceedings.
Prepare summarized transcripts of proceedings in final form.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The work may require occasional TDY travel with the Trial Counsel to interview out of state witnesses or to attend professional development training.
- The work of this position may require the employee to work irregular hours in support of trial times and witness availability, etc.
- Work may require working alternate or flexible work schedules in conjunction with courts-martial. Some overtime work, night work, and holiday work may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing administrative policies and procedures; advising on matters of office legal administration/processes, file management, and coordinating administrative procedural functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
