Duties

Read and screen all incoming correspondence. Greet Visitors. Screen telephone calls and visitors. Maintain calendar and schedules appointments, briefings and meetings without prior approval. Prepare travel authorizations and vouchers using the automated Defense Travel System (DTS). Serve as Army Record Information Management System (ARIMS) Records Coordinator. Type material from rough draft or brief verbal instructions Serve as time keeper/reviewer and ensure accurate time and attendance entry. Establish and maintain office records of various types.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee must undergo screening for tuberculosis upon employment and periodic screening thereafter.
  • Employee must be able to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires the employee to complete the Army Corrections Command Pre-Service Training program.
  • Pre-Service Training emphasizes the responsibilities of each individual to maintain security and control of inmates, appropriate staff/inmate interaction and understanding the rules of inmate conduct.
  • All Army Corrections Command employees are required to take 40 hours of training annually. Employees will receive basic training in inmate supervision and security as well as specialized training in their field.
  • The employee will comply with all provisions of the 15th MP BDE Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and ACC Policy Letter #17, Standards of Conduct.
  • All confinement facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity and emotional stability; and have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum sentence over one year.
  • IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution (42 USC 1997).
  • Personnel who enter the Military Corrections Complex (within or outside the fence line) consent to inspection of their person and property, including their vehicle.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in performing a variety of clerical and administrative work for an office; using various office automation applications; making travel arrangement in an automated system such as the Defense Travel System (DTS); proofreading and editing correspondence and technical documents; and using an automated records management system such as Army Record Information Management System (ARMIS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Office Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements. Current employees applying under VEOA are subject to time-in-grade restrictions like any other GS employee.
