About the Position: Serves as the Secretary (OA = Office Automation) for The Research and Analysis Center (TRAC), Army Futures Command (AFC), by active participation in the management of the office applying a good working knowledge of program responsibilities in resolving procedural and administrative problems relieving the Director of administrative details. The skill of a qualified typist is required.
Duties
Prepare travel orders for personnel within automated travel system such as Defense Travel System (DTS).
Attend meetings, take notes, prepares reports.
Maintain supervisor's calendar, scheduling appointments based on their interest and commitments.
Serves as point of contact between supervisor and staff.
Exercises tact and diplomacy in screening callers; determines identity of callers and nature of business, and personally provides information where possible; directs callers to appropriate staff official.
Reviews rosters, schedules and other informational material routed through the office and extracts data of interest to Director/Deputy Director.
Requests supplies thru proper channels as outlined in current Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1. Provide excellent customer service to all incoming calls to screen, route, and determine appropriate action to all inquiries; 2. Maintain a daily electronic calendar of appointments and coordinates the schedule for meetings, AND 3. Prepare and review correspondence, ensuring conformance with regulations, grammar, format, and policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
