You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER in the Ocean Projects Department (N9) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will direct overall technical direction and coordination of operational survey system support requirements of the branch.
You will execute the required branch projects by assigning resources within allocated budget, sets project objectives, prioritize and schedule.
You will resolve difficult technical and administrative problems, coordinates liaison between branch personnel and divisions for scheduling, staffing, and reporting progress of projects.
You will exercise direct technical guidance to assigned personnel.
You will collaborate with other divisions and branched in the department to negotiate and coordinate work related changes affecting survey operations or other branch tasks.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience planning, implementing, coordinating, and managing the operations, and activities of the assigned branch.
Experience directing efforts in support of maintenance and repair, installation, and operation, ashore and in the field of survey teams.
Experience preparing and submitting budget requirements to support planned work, facilities and hardware acquisitions for branch.
Experience providing technical and administrative supervision to Engineers, Electronic Technicians, equipment management specialist Oceanograhers, Physical Scientist and staff.
Experience directing all facets of engineering including engineering analysis, system and equipment design, system evaluation, development, acquisition and field maintenance.
Operational experience and technical Knowledge of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs)

Basic Requirements:
- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
- Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Basic Requirements:

Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.
