As a Facility Operations Specialist at the GS-1640-12, you will be part of Facilities, Security and Emergency Mgmt, Office of Personnel Management.
If selected, you will be responsible for: facilities operations and preventive maintenance and management by providing advice and assistance to management and program officials with regard to policies, regulations and arrangements for repairs, maintenance, new system design and installation, and general facilities management and building operations.
Duties
Serves as the liaison between OPM and the General Services Administration (GSA) and professional architects and engineers (A/E's) for the planning and programming requirements for aspects of all modernization projects.
Oversees and manages architectural or engineering studies and comprehensive design analyses to develop recommended solutions to problems in designated structures and/or systems.
Provides reviews, technical evaluations, assessments, and recommendations through the comparative analysis of progressive design and construction documents.
Provides support to the Facilities Operating Specialist Team Lead in overseeing the administration of contracts for facilities management and preventive maintenance services.
Responsible for developing, or assisting with developing, policies, procedures, and ensures all mandatory, facilities-related reports are prepared properly and on schedule.
Qualifications
For the GS 12: You must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the private or public sector) performing the following tasks:
Coordinating and monitoring facility programs and services by assuring compliance with all Federal statutes or regulations, certifications, safety, fire prevention, and security program requirements.
Planning, developing, coordinating, and inspecting work performed by various trades and labor employees (carpenters, electricians, mechanics (HVAC), utility system(s), operators, janitors and or others).
Assisting with developing contract specifications for maintenance, custodial services, grounds maintenance, pest control, elevator maintenance, trash, and debris removal.
Merit promotion applicants must meet the time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level.
