About the Position:Serves as a casualty action/notification officer in the HQDA Casualty Operations Center, Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Branch (24 hour facility) providing policy and procedural guidance to Casualty Assistance Centers(CAC) located worldwide. Position is located at Human Resources Command (HRC, The Adjutant General Directorate (TAGD), at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Duties
Use a variety of automated systems to verify personal, pay, and dependent data.
Receive, reviews and validates reports on all Army soldiers (Active Duty, Separated, and Retired) and DA civilian employees.
Coordinate the information necessary to initiate notification actions pertaining to individual(s) involved in a casualty incident.
Coordinate telephonic contact with Family of soldiers/DA civilians; coordinates personal notification to the Families of deceased soldiers/DA civilians; requests instructions for remains from the appropriate Family Members.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing information to construct, review and assemble accurate information. Constructing accurate, timely, and sensitive personnel actions such as (but not limited to) Notification of Deaths and Letters of Condolence. completing human resource case assignments in accordance with established policies. Verifying personnel information through various personnel data systems such as: the Enlisted Distribution Assignment System (EDAS), the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), the Defense Casualty Information Processing System (DCIPS), the Total Officer Personnel Management Information System (TOPMIS), Unit Identification Code System (UICS), Electronic Military Personnel Office (EMILPO), and the Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System (IPERMS).This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Education
You may substitute education for experience with education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Management, Business Administration, Resource Management or Human Resources Management.
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
