You will serve as a DOMESTIC ANIMAL CONTROL in the Domestic Animal Control and Parking Enforcement Office, Services Section of MARINE CORPS BASE.
Duties
You will perform periodic patrols of the installation for stray, abandoned or neglected animals, capturing animals and transporting them to the local animal shelter.
You will investigate reports of animal bites or aggression, immediately responding to and isolating/controlling and detaining animal until appropriate action is taken.
You will respond and investigate reports of animal abuse and neglect.
You will initiate corrective action to protect the animal if there is evidence of abuse or neglect.
You will document and report abusive or neglect incidents. You will evaluate animals for suspected medical conditions and ensure a safe and clean living condition.
You will administer the Installations and Environment Department's Feral Trapping Program, for cats and dogs.
Requirements

- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver's license and be able to maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
- You may be required to respond to off base circumstances as directed by the Installation Commander, in accordance with USMC and DoD policy.
- You may be recalled to Duty outside of normal working hours.
- You must be able to work a Shift Work schedule. A Shift Work schedule describes work performed with varying and/or rotating shifts.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to pass a written deadly force test prior to being issued Oleoresin Capsicum (OC Spray)
- Must be willing and able to undergo Hepatitis B series and Td (Tdap once) per NMCPHC-TM OM 6260.
- This is a Mission Essential Position
- You must be willing and able to undergo Rabies vaccination (non-waivable)
- Must be willing and able to submit to a pre-employment physical exam prior to employment and annually.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing investigative and administrative support pertaining to the handling, control and transportation of stray, wild, domestic, abandoned, neglected, and/or abused animals.

Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
