About the Position: Provide technical advisory service and assists in the development and integration on initiatives such as the policies and procedures for the Army's casualty and mortuary-related programs to include survivor support, casualty operations, mortuary operations, line of duty investigations, the memorialization program, military funeral honors, fatal incident programs and other future assigned programs.

Duties

Serves as an Army proponent and program manager for an Army program. Serves as an advisor, researcher, legislation reviewer and subject matter expert for an Army program. Serves as an agency's representative on DoD and Army -related boards. Serves as a project manager for assigned program areas. Plans and evaluates assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent subject to a One-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Incumbent may be required to perform occasional Temporary Duty Travel (10%).
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include overtime, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing review and analysis of current and projected operating programs to evaluate the actual or potential effectiveness of the Casualty Assistance Centers (CAC) in the operation and management of Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Programs. Identifying objectives which are being met on a timely basis, as well as problem areas where managerial attention may be required. preparing narrative summaries and explanation of analysis and problem areas. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
