You will serve as a Emergency Consolidated Dispatcher in the Provost Marshall Division of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will receive all emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance for (fire, police, ambulance and others) on the radio and/or telephone, Base 911, Sprint E-911. You will assist callers on Telephone for Deaf Deficient (TDD), 911 ATT and administrative lines. You will determine the nature and type of the problem/emergency and the type of emergency equipment needed for initial response to the location of the incident. You will scan charts, grid maps, and computer monitors to determine what units are available to respond to the emergency. You will operate Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and other computer equipment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Emergency Medical Dispatcher or Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current DoD Tele-communicator I and II certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/First Aid) certification.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: 1) Receiving and processing incoming fire alarms, 911 calls, emergency and non-emergency requests for services for police, fire, and medical incidents; 2) Demonstrating the ability to read maps and grid coordinates; 3) Operating a variety of office and communication equipment, fire alarm receivers, NC State emergency radio, and security monitoring receivers; and 4) Exhibiting extensive telephone skills and radio procedures to demonstrate sound customer relation skills and keep the 911 caller calm and talking.
