US ARMY AVIATION & MISSILE COMMAND TMDE SUPPORT REGION EAST TOBYHANNA, PA
Duties
Works under the supervision of a secondary reference calibration laboratory chief who issues instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
Serves as working leader of three or more employees in accomplishing calibration and repair support of unusually complex high precision calibration laboratory reference standards, and customer test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment.
Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, demonstrates proper work methods, and starts work.
Works along with other employees and sets pace performing non-supervisory work of the same kind and level as that done by the group led.
Relies on the incumbent to assure that work assignments are carried out by other members of the group.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to pass a physical examination prior to employment and annually thereafter. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be willing to travel (TDY) up to 5% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) PRECISION MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT CALIBRATOR LEADER ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common tasks as a leader able to perform and provide technical direction to lower graded workers in all of the following: Calibrate repair test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE), operate automated calibration systems and ability to interpret technical procedures and engineering drawings. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work may require long periods of standing or sitting along with some walking or bending. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements to lift items in excess of 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is performed in laboratories and user facilities where technicians are exposed to the hazards of high voltage, high pressure, high and low temperatures, chemicals and radiation. Calibrators must comply with all safety regulations applicable to the calibration mission.
