About the Position: This position is located at the Human Resources Command, The Adjutant General Directorate, Evaluations Selections and Promotions Division, Fort Knox, KY. Assists Board Recorders for Department of the Army, Reserve Component (Army Reserve and Army National Guard) Army Selection Board System selection/promotion boards. Plans, administers, manages conduct, and assists in officer and enlisted boards.

Duties

Assists Board Recorders in final preparation and screening of up to 25,000 files a year. Receives and processes late arriving documents. Scans hard copy documents as required into the board file. Provides board member technical assistance on the electronic board system. After the voting is complete, prepares Order of Merit Lists. Once board decisions are made, sets the proper codes to produce a recommend list, a not recommend list which are scrutinized up to Senate and Presidential level, and distributed worldwide.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent subject to a One-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves: Reviewing officer, NCO, and academic evaluations (OER, NCOER, and AER). Placing quality documents in Official Military Personnel File (OMPF). Monitoring promotion actions. Preparing responses on actions assigned in a variety of formats: emails, letters, memorandums, reports, etc. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Education

Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for required experience in order to qualify. For this position, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. Substitution of education for experience is NOT permitted.
