You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department (Code 2300) in the Reactor Engineering Division (Code 2310) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will develop and prepare technical work documents and drawings needed for the fabrication, modification, installation and repair of nuclear temporary support systems and associated equipment.
You will investigate routine reports of malfunctioning equipment and components.
You will troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered with equipment.
You will monitor system and equipment performance, operation, and trends.
Requirements

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience developing plans and estimates for overhaul and repair of nuclear temporary support systems and equipment used to support the work.
Experience providing technical planning information and reports to other nuclear engineering groups within the shipyard.
Experience analyzing engineering specifications, drawings, work plans, and establish detailed production repair or modification sequences.
Experience providing resolution to complex engineering problems and making recommendation to improve work processes.
Experience developing corrective actions, recommending appropriate solutions, utilizing analytical techniques to conduct engineering analysis.
Experience with nuclear power manuals and instructions.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience developing plans and estimates for overhaul and repair of nuclear temporary support systems and equipment used to support the work.
Experience analyzing engineering specifications, drawings, work plans, and establish detailed production repair or modification sequences.
Experience providing assistance on routine operations related to nuclear temporary support systems.
Experience developing corrective actions, recommending appropriate solutions, utilizing analytical techniques to conduct engineering analysis.
Experience with nuclear power manuals and instructions.
