This position is located in the Administrative Resource Center/Employment Services Division/Classification & Support Branch. As an HR Specialist (Classification), you will serve as a subject-matter expert, senior-level classifier, and technical advisor to multi-agency senior leadership, management, HR Specialists, and other relevant stakeholders.
Duties
As an HR Specialist (Classification), you will:
- Advise on position and organizational design, structure, and evaluation, and position classification and position management issues. Serve as a technical authority and classify the most complex and/or unusual positions.
- Collaborate with multi-agency senior leadership, management, HR, and other stakeholders to respond to classification issues and questions.
- Serve a key staff role by providing authoritative interpretations on matters of wide-spread impact within the complexity of the shared services environment.
- Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training for managers, supervisors, employees, and customers. Also train and develop other specialists through formal or informal methods; provide constructive feedback through peer reviews; and act as a mentor.
- Evaluate strategic plans, policies, and priorities relative to the classification service line.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes the following:
- Experience interpreting and applying guidelines and regulations to perform classification work; AND
- Consulting and assisting managers and employees on classification and position management initiatives; AND
- Experience participating in or leading project teams to identify areas of improvement and/or make recommendations to management that result in new processes, or input into workforce and strategic planning.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
