The purpose of the position is to provide technical expertise in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, testing, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools for DeCA. The incumbent assists with the Payment Card Industry annual assessment and executes the DeCA Information Assurance (IA) audit program.
Duties
Serves as a technical authority on vulnerability assessments and security audits, including the use and configuration of vulnerability scanning tools.
Assists in the implementation of the DeCA IA program.
Develops policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
Develops security metrics and monitors performance.

Qualifications
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 2210 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume must clearly show that you have one year specialized equivalent to at least GS-11. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Develop long range plans for IT security systems that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate and minimize risks associated with IT system vulnerabilities.
Perform complex technical risk assessments.
Resolve integration issued related to the implementation of new systems within the existing infrastructure.
You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA. For GS-12: You must have 52 weeks of Federal service at or equivalent to GS-11.
Time after competitive appointment.
