Duties

Provide expert advice and guidance on the interpretation of all aspects of congressional legislation, regulatory directives and procedural requirements for the formulation, justification and presentation. Reviews and analyzes budget input from all supporting organizations: Headquarters, USASOC and all reporting activities. Serve as the budget analyst for formulation of USASOC budget submission to USSOCOM.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time. Are you willing and able to travel away from your permanent duty station up to 25% of the time?
  • THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 2 Certified position. Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.

One year of specialized experience which includes, reviewing and analyzing trends, recommending approval, disapproval or modification of budget requests; interpret and analyze budget guidance from higher headquarters and its impact on the command. Implementing execution processes for approved annual funding programs including monitoring obligations, expenditures, and disbursements to meet budgetary objective. Coordinate with subordinates, peers, and higher-ranking personnel within and outside the command. Preparing data summaries for routine and special budget execution reports and various material for briefings, meetings, or conferences. Utilizing automated financial systems such as General Funds Enterprise Business System (GFEBS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade, in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget ExecutionBudget Formulation, Justification, and PresentationConcepts, Policies, and Principles of Budget Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
