Duties
Performs physical inventory counts, monitor results, review reports, compare records, process cancellations, and deny issue.
Provides guidance in material management as it involves item identification, inventory control, materiel accountability, and transaction reconciliation with Headquarters, contractors, and Department of Defense (DoD) generating activities.
Responsible for developing, coordinating, operating, evaluating, and executing various aspects of controlled property management and materiel control at the command level.
Provides technical advice and guidance to operating level personnel regarding the interpretation of materiel management regulations, policies, and procedures.
Monitors and reviews inventory for controlled property, and reports on any discrepancies to various levels inside/outside the command.
Makes comparative studies, applies analytical techniques, and makes recommendations for corrective actions.
Investigates and resolves discrepancies, gathers/analyzes inventory information including researching gains/losses resulting from physical inventory counts from non-accountable storage activities and inventory adjustment trends.
Plans current and long-range objectives, as well as new policies/procedures for the command inventory program.

Qualifications
To qualify for a General Supply Specialist your resume and supporting documentation must support one year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Conducting studies, analyzing findings, making recommendations on substantiative operating programs, responding to customer inquiries on the status of requisitions and shipments.
Interpreting policies from higher headquarters and providing guidance to multiple customers.
Providing authoritative inventory management guidance on post adjustment research and analysis.
Validating actions taken on high dollar and sensitive stocks to ensure corrective measures are taken.
Responding to problems or questions involving the determination of controlled property.
Coordinating investigations and inquiries concerning discrepant or suspected nonconforming materials

Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
