About the Position: The incumbent will serve as the Logistics Management Specialist providing logistical direction for Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) and subordinate organizations.
Duties
Make recommendations concerning operations, logistics, and contingency plans.
Utilize Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-A) on-line tool for reporting of applicable supply and/or maintenance functions.
Conduct studies to develop operational methodology and analyzes the impact on current and projected resources.
Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to improve organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness to customer needs.
Manage inventory levels, including stock replenishment, storage, and distribution, to ensure adequate supply to meet operational requirements while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
Coordinate procurement activities, including sourcing, vendor selection, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management, to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
Prepare clear and concise reports, deliver effective presentations, and communicate with stakeholders at various levels within the organization.
Conduct strategic planning activities to analyze logistics requirements.
Identify logistics challenges, analyze complex issues, and develop innovative solutions to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance operational effectiveness.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Planning, coordinating, and/or executing logistics operations across multiple functional areas, such as supply chain management, inventory control, transportation, and/or distribution; (2) Conducting strategic planning activities, such as analyzing logistics requirements, forecasting future needs, and/or developing long-term plans to optimize logistics support and resource allocation; (3) Developing, implementing, and/or evaluating logistics policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational standards; and (4) Utilizing logistics software and systems, such as supply chain management software, inventory management systems, and/or transportation management systems, to support logistics operations and decision-making. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
