You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the NAVAL OCEANOGRAPHIC OFFICE, OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE OFFICER, SECURITY STAFF (01N) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Duties

You will serve as the Program Security Officer (PSO) responsible for physical security, personnel security, information security, classification and documents, document control and accountability of all Program Information and visitor access control. You will plan, manage, and implement all security projects and actions associated with the SCI Facility. You will implement procedures to ensure SCI is not disclosed to unauthorized personnel through a deficiency in internal handling or processing procedures. You will interpret new and changing security policies for application to the Program Security environment. You will conduct security education training to ensure all indoctrinated personnel are continually reminded of their personal responsibility to safeguard Program information.

Requirements

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Experience establishing security policies and procedures and monitoring adherence by all elements of the organization; 2) Experience developing and implementing internal security procedures to ensure proper handling and safeguarding of classified material; 3) Experience using Personnel Security Programs and databases to initiate, review and process Personnel Security Investigations and security clearance; 4) Experience analyzing security training needs and administer effective Security Program Training to all levels of employees; 5) Experience evaluating security problems and/or threats and recommending preventative measures to senior management.
