This position is part of the Security Services, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.
Duties
Configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting issues with, and managing Security Management access and control server.
Evaluating security systems, accessing controls, Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV), and fire and safety issues to determine the exact nature of the problem; and then resolve or coordinate a resolution.
Maintaining responsibility for physical security and safety concerning technical countermeasures to secure access to agency facilities.
Preparing written reports of all program issues, recommending fundamental policy changes, and providing input in the development of policies.
Advising facility security personnel on matters requiring clear explanations of regulations and procedures, as well as assisting with risk assessments.
Requirements

- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance.
- Travel Required: Approximately 14 days a year, or as needed in Emergency Situations.
- Duties may require prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching above the shoulder, and climbing.
- A moderate amount of hand, wrist, and arm movements is involved. Moderate lifting may be required for objects weighing up to 25 pounds as a condition of employment.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Security Specialist, PG -0080-12, you must meet the following requirements:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the PG-11 or higher grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include:
Making recommendations for Physical Security safety and security equipment requiring access to sensitive/classified information;
Assisting with troubleshooting security systems including CCTV, Network Video Recorders (NVR), and fire and safety issues; and
Performing electrical and wiring installation work and repairs for fire and safety alarms.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
