Duties
The Mail Management Supervisor is responsible for supervising, maintaining and improving the mail operations for the Supreme Court of the United States, and for recommending new or revised mail management policies and standards. Duties include updating and drafting policies and procedures; preparing a variety of statistical/budget estimates and reports; analyzing mail handling equipment, procedures and facilities in order to recommend improvements; conducting surveys of mail usage with a view toward recommending more effective, efficient and less costly methods and procedures; and maintaining liaison with the U. S. Postal Service and other mail carriers doing business with the Court. Supervises four Mail Services Clerks and one Mail Services Technician performing a variety of mailroom tasks. Provides on-the-job training for new employees; carries out personnel management responsibilities; plans and assigns work; establishes priorities; identifies training needs; and other managerial duties. Additional duties include serving as the manager for the Court's central receiving activity, which involves receipt, warehousing and transport of supplies, equipment, furniture, and other materials in support of the Court's mission.

Qualifications
Minimum of five years mailroom or receiving/shipping experience. Computer experience with MS Word, Excel and Access is desirable. Knowledge of U.S. Postal Service and other express mail carriers' regulations, services and procedures is desirable. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required. The ability to operate material handling equipment such as 5k electric sit-down forklift and manual/electric powered pallet jacks is required. The ability to work under pressure, utilizing good judgment and making sound decisions, and effectively working with a variety of individuals is required. Must be capable of lifting over 70 pounds.
Education
A high school diploma is required. College degree is desirable.
